Jack Howard

I qualified in 2017 from the University of Birmingham with a Physiotherapy BSc (Hons) and started my career in the NHS as a junior physiotherapist. During my time there, I completed rotations in stroke medicine, musculoskeletal care, hand therapy, care of the elderly, trauma and orthopaedics, acute medicine, and respiratory medicine. This gave me the chance to work with both adults and children, managing everything from acute injuries to long-term conditions. My own experiences as both an athlete and a patient give me a real appreciation of the recovery journey, and I bring that understanding to every person I work with.

During my time in the NHS, I had the privilege of working closely with consultants, clinical specialists, and other allied health professionals, and I really enjoyed mentoring students and junior physiotherapists. One of the highlights of my early career was helping to implement a successful Falls Prevention Program, and being key part of the discharge pathway โ€“ making sure patients could move safely and confidently from hospital back into their homes.

I realised quickly that community rehab wasnโ€™t always meeting peopleโ€™s needs, and simultaneously had found a passion and was developing expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. I could see the impact it made on peopleโ€™s lives, and Iโ€™ve always believed rehab should be accessible, personal, and tailored to what matters most to each patient.

After more than three years in the NHS, I knew I needed a change โ€“ both for my own workโ€“life balance and to be able to offer the kind of high-quality, patient-centred rehab I believe in. Thatโ€™s when Spiral Health was born.

Sport has always been a big part of my life. I am a graduate of Princethorpe College where I balanced academics with a love of physical activity, and over the years Iโ€™ve played a lot of sport โ€“ with plenty of injuries along the way! In the past Iโ€™ve represented Warwickshire in field hockey, though these days Iโ€™m a father to two young children so this means the free time I can dedicate to sport is quite limited, so when I can I enjoy a more โ€œweekend warriorโ€ approach, playing cricket for Kenilworth CC 1st team and Sunday league football.
