I’ve wanted to work in healthcare for as long as I can remember, and physiotherapy quickly became the career that felt like the perfect fit. There’s nothing quite like watching someone realise they can do something they didn’t think was possible – those little wins are what made me fall in love with this profession, and what still drives me today.

Before qualifying as a physiotherapist, I spent several years working in the NHS as a Physiotherapy Assistant. That experience gave me invaluable insight into rehabilitation early on, and the chance to learn from some brilliant clinicians along the way.

Since then, my training has taken me across a broad range of services, including respiratory, acute medical, orthopaedic and community settings, working with people facing a wide range of conditions. But it’s community physiotherapy that I’ve come to love most. There’s something special about working with people in their own homes, understanding what really matters to them, and helping them achieve the goals that make a genuine difference to their everyday lives, whether that’s walking the dog or keeping up with the grandchildren.

Within community work, I’ve developed a particular interest in frailty. I love working with people to build strength, confidence and independence, helping them stay safe and mobile in the environment they know best. Supporting someone to keep doing the everyday things that matter to them โ€“ safely and on their own terms โ€“ is some of the most meaningful work I do.

I pride myself on being approachable, supportive and easy to talk to. I want every patient to feel listened to, involved in their rehabilitation, and confident in the plan we’re building together.

Outside of work, I’m usually curled up with a good fantasy book, baking for family and friends, or catching up with the girls. I’m also a big rugby fan โ€“ during the season you’ll find me on the sidelines every Saturday, rain or shine, cheering the team on.

Imogen’s areas of clinical interest include:

  • Community rehabilitation
  • Frailty & falls prevention
  • Respiratory physiotherapy
